Purdue University North Central (PNC) is excited to share a celebration of 10 years of sculpture on its campus.  Sculpture in history has always reflected the times in which it was created and has traditionally been the vision of one artist. As we begin our journey into the 21st century, new technologies, faster communication and the introduction of modern materials will continue to enable future sculptors to formulate their ideas and create works of art that will be relevant and powerful. Sculpture will continue to be a singular human achievement.

PNC's campus is a world-class example of grace and ever-changing environmental beauty. Years of shepherding by its leaders have created a space permitting a scale and scope of work rivaling sculpture parks anywhere. The inclusion of sculpture at PNC has made a deep imprint and has become a tradition. Its presence has given countless viewers the experience of three-dimensionality unparalleled by other art forms.  With materials such as raw steel, stainless, aluminum, concrete, bronze, glass, light, wood, stone and earth, some 50 sculptors have created works that engage the viewer from many perspectives, in fixed positions, at different speeds of travel, during all hours of day and night.

"Wherever I go, people ask me about the sculptures on our campus, some of which have become icons. I tell them with pride of the more than 50 commendable sculptors who have created works which have turned our gazes forward and upward. As Purdue University North Central grows, the presence of art will continue to contribute to the visual distinction that is part of our unique identity," remarks Dr. James B. Dworkin, Chancellor.
